iPad/iPhone Erasure Issue Process New iOS 18 Resolution
Solve new iOS 18 issure
Apple is constantly making changes and updates that can throw a wrench into your decommissioning/repurposing workflow. If you find yourself reading this article, you probably are experiencing one of these changes. Here is our process to get you back on track;
1. Boot a single client machine (or no more than a few). You must have a laptop/PC between the network switch and your hub/ docking station for you mobile devices. Be sure to load the firmware onto your laptop/PC which is part of the iPhone/iPad erasure process.
2. Attach iPhones/iPads to client machine (laptop/PC). We recommend a powered, ethernet to USB hub, anything with less than 10 port will suffice. It's less then 10 ports due to bandwidth restrictions per network switch port.
3. Attempt to wipe iPhones/iPads attached to client machine
4. If wipes fail, reboot the iPhones/iPads that failed, but do not reboot the client machine and submit a ticket
4a. I will then go in and apply the fix
5. Repeat steps 2 - 4 for different devices but do not reboot client machine or the fix will be lost
The important part is not to reboot the client machine after the fix is applied. Note also this will only fix the iOS 18 issue.
